How you can Help
There are many ways to get involved in the lives of orphans, at-risk children and their families. Buckner not only provides services to clients such as these, we offer ways for you to become involved in ministry and missions. Below are just a few opportunities we have available for you to help.
Donate. Buckner provides services utilizing a diverse funding stream. However, we wouldn’t be able to provide the quality of care that we’re known for if we didn’t have support from our community. Financial donations can underwrite therapeutic services for children not covered by Medicaid, provide special activities and outings for foster children, purchase school supplies or uniforms, and help our operations continue smoothly.
Be A Family. Become a foster parent or adoptive parent. You can provide a loving, nurturing home to children who need a place to belong. Your Church can host a Be a Family meeting to receive more information about the foster care & adoption process. Call Mark or Debbie at 903-757-9383 for more information.
Go Somewhere. Have you ever wanted to take a mission trip, but didn’t know how to begin? For both individuals and groups, Buckner has missions opportunities in many countries throughout the world, including Guatemala, Honduras, Peru, Ethiopia, Kenya, Russia, China and the USA. Maybe you’d even like to visit us in Northeast Texas.
Do Something. It’s a desire to make a difference. To adopt. To show. To mentor. With Buckner, you can be personally involved in the lives of children and at-risk families who need a friend, family or mentor. Thousands of Buckner volunteers do something for children every year, whether they collect Shoes for Orphan Souls™, volunteer as mentors, perform community volunteer service or engage through Buckner special events.
Many of these volunteer help us develop relationships with others who want to provide more for children. Let a child know about God’s love today by telling or showing them yourself.
Here are more ideas:
Sponsor a Holiday Party. You bring the food and fun, we’ll provide the space and bring the kids. We have a particular need for those ‘forgotten holidays,’ like Valentine’s, St. Patrick’s, or Arbor Day. And we’re always needing birthday supplies, including gift wrap, banners, streamers and party supplies. (Foster Care or STARS after school Program)
Counseling. Help individuals or families who need support through Christian counseling.
Tutoring. During the school year, our STARS students frequently need extra help with homework. Your group could come and work with our children, helping them accomplish their educational goals.
Summer Day Camp Send a child between the ages of 6yrs-10yrs to camp for a week.
Collect Donations The Mission Center is able to serve the community based on the donations we receive. Collect men, women, or children’s clothing for our center. Collect hygiene items such as soap, shampoo, toothbrush & toothpaste, deodorant, shave cream, and feminine products. Other items of need include diapers in sizes newborn to size 6, wipes, formula, bottles, creams.
